Chip Sealing Division
Chip Sealing on older asphalt or gravel roads will give you durability and slow down oxidation and water penetration, blocking out natural elements such as sun, wind, snow, frost, and ice.
Chip sealing resists harmful man made materials as well such as fuel, antifreeze, oil and salt.
It is cheaper in the long term to provide maintenance and rehabilitation to our streets than it is to wait until the pavement has deteriorated to the point where complete reconstruction is required. It is really no different than a citizen maintaining their home. For example, most people recognize the benefits of periodically painting and caulking their windows rather than waiting till the frames have rotted and need replacement.
Chip Sealing is the most effective alternative to paving available today. In fact, years ago, most of the nations roadways were chip sealed, until the advent of a stronger material known as asphalt paving was created. Chip Sealing is also economical and will provide a lower cost than a hot mix overlay for the same purpose.
Chip Sealing is important to you for many good reasons:
- Damaging effects of natural elements including moisture and ultraviolet oxidation
- Chip seal increases pavement life
- Protects the surface from aging
- Prevents moisture and air entering the pavement structure
- Chip sealing may be used to enliven a dry or weathered surface
Chip Seals are used for restoring skid resistance, protecting a surface from aging, restoring a running surface, eliminating dust and sealing gravel pavements.
Chip Seals protect, preserve and extend pavement life. It is also economical and will provide a lower cost than a hot mix overlay for the same purpose. The end result is an esthetically pleasing pavement that is better to drive on.
